Beginning as bass player for Buddy Holly, he came to prominence as an "Outlaw" musican along with Willie Nelson and others who left Nashville. Jennings and Nelson had a major crossover hit with "Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys". Jennings also performed the theme song and narrated 'the Dukes of Hazzard'.
